Carl,

The capstan type is the later type, on my windshield is also the early push type (gpa 8787 is from feb 27, 1943).
This is what it should look like:

Happy birthday GPA 4928.

Wasn't it: "Shaken, but not stirred" (and certainly not on a capstan winch)?

Enjoy both, and a happy and good 2008 :!:

Richard, You will need TM-10-1263 maintenance Manual for Ford Amphibian 1/4-Ton 4x4 and TM-10-1264 Parts list Model GPA Amphibian. Another good addition would make SNL G-658 Ford Master Parts List. This last one is very thick and covers all parts Ford made for Military Vehicles and not only the GPA....

Hi Richard, I agree with Donovan, you best buy a GPA in the most complete shape you can find. In addition to Donovan's list: GPA Rear axle is different than GPW. Not impossible too find but more expensive then a GPW one. You will also need the dashboard and all hull and deck cover plates, front and ...

Hi Richard, Patience and a lot of luck are the key-words for finding a restorable GPA. I agree with Mithril that you best buy one that is as complete as possible. Even the GAZ-46 is very rare and hard too find, and parts are even more impossible then with GPA's. In the meantime, while you are lookin...

I sure hope it is a fabricated reproduction, but it looks like it is well done.

I think the gpa will become even more popular if these vehicles appear in such a blockbuster movie.

Richard,

Thanks for your advice. You have a solution for allmost everything it seems, thanks for sharing!

Tony,
For the stamps I will need a G P and A and the 7 and 8, but if I can't find them I will try Richard's advice.

Hello Tony, I have the same problem, but not on my engine but on the frame. My gpa framenumber is very faint, and I like to fresh it up with original stamps. I asked this question 2 years ago on the G503 and other boards, but never had any reply. But I keep looking for them, if I do find a good set ...

Hello Jan,

I recently bought a gpa bilge pump on eBay, with the connections still on it.
I'm not shure if these are the right connections, but I will bring the pump with me, next time I visit your shed somewhere next week.

David,

This is a bracket on a gpa part I once had:

Early brackets (1942) have two clamps later (from 1943 and later) had only one clamp, at least with GPW jeeps, so I think it must be the same with GPA's.
