Tony, As far as I know you are right, there were no safety chains on the pintle hook, just like the early MB and GPW jeep had none either. But you want them if you drive with a trailer behind the GPA and otherwise they may be very handy for tying the GPA down on a trailer for transport. I will put t...

Tony, Ian,

The old Walker Site is still online, but not updated.

See link below, all thumbnails are still working, but when you click on the Forum, you will be directed to this new Forum, the old Forum is no longer on line.

Tony,

No retaining plate, the boot is bolted to the floor panel.
On the old "Meet the Seep" Site from Rodney Walker there is a technical drawing of this boot, check bottom link.

Tony, Like with the jeeps blue drab is from the factory. When vehicles were delivered to the troops, the numbers were painted white, sometimes near or sometimes on/over the blue numbers. If you want to build up your GPA "from factory" you should choose the blue numbers. If you want it to "look like ...

GPA's on transport

OK, here is another photo without date or place from my collection. I'm shure it is WWII origin, photo is probably taken in the 1942/1943 winter (look at the snow on the vehicles) perhaps on the River Rouge factory ground or perhaps somewhere else, who knows? http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d23/le...

Tony,

Look at the bottom center plate, this is the early type bilge plate.
The left plate is the late type version.

For the GPA it will assumably be from start januari 1943. My GPA #8787 had the lever type on it, Carls GPA is a little later in prod...

Carl,

You should have a lever type on your GPA. Keys were eleminated early 1942, as far as I know all GPA's have lever ignitions.
