Richard, I received my pipes and they look great. I have to wait awhile before I fit as the hull is not done yet. I noticed that you did not put the centering tabs on the last pipe. I had my original and when I recreated it I had the centering tabs put on. Another question I had is what people are u...

What would you do?

Everyone, I am continuing work on the body and we (the welder and I) have hit a snag. There is an area on the drivers side up against the hull (where the side hull meets the bottom hull side) that we are replacing. The problem is that when we put the hull back, it will be impossible to sandblast or ...

Bob,

Can you explain why the parts book says binding head screws? While my floorboards were not in place when I received my GPA, I see more binding head screws than hex bolts. This may be a early versus late thing as my GPA is a late version.

Rick, In most instances where foot or hand contact can occur (as in the floor boards or deck plates) the specs call for "Binding Head Screw" which is similar to a pan head but different. While there may be some locations that hex head bolts are used (like beneath the seats) the majority ar...

Peter,

I am curious. Did you have a NOS tank, have one made, or repaired an old one? If you had one made, who did it for you?

Thanks,

Donovan.

Stephen,

I agree with Rick that has to be very unusual to find a NOS bilge pump along with the brackets for a GPA. I would like to here the story about how you found that one!!

Good luck,

Donovan.

Everyone, I also had these spacers and it is my opinion that they were used if needed but not necessarily required. If I recall correctly, I found mine on the drivers side on the front axle rear spring bracket between the hull and the frame on the inside. I think there may have been one other place ...

Peter, You are correct in that it is better to work on an unprimered hull than with it painted. However, once it is sandblasted it will start to rust and so you have to spray it with WD-40 or some other protectant to keep the rust at bay. I am still trying to figure out how to approach things. For i...

Everyone, Thank you. The guy I am using is a true machinist and could probably recreate any part of a GPA if required. But he also knows not to make it pretty as some of my original welds are downright ugly!! So I try and be patient and nudge him along and maybe the welding will be done by late summ...

GPA 11374 Hull Repairs

Well I thought I post a few pictures to give an idea where I am in the process. I am not personally doing the welding (I have hired someone) as it is beyond my skills. http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/data/1075/medium/Front_Hull.JPG http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/data/1075/medium/Side_Front2.JPG htt...

Wes, You are right. The generator mount has a spacer approximately 5/8 to 3/4" in thickness. Sorry I was so late responding but I did not have the generator mounted and it is one heavy little monster!! Here is a picture: http://www.surfacezero.com/g503/data/1075/Gen_Mount_Frt3.JPG Good luck, Do...

Does anybody have a picture of what the original bottom plugs look like? I would be interested in seeing what an original one (large and small) looks like.

Thanks,

Warning: GPA Ebay Item is Wrong

All, Just a warning to people that if you are trying to obtain a PTO for a GPA the individual on EBay (Item No. 230085273000) trying to sell a PTO and saying it belongs to a GPA is WRONG. This is not a GPA PTO! I think it is a standard jeep PTO but I am not sure. I just know it is not a GPA PTO and ...
