Re: GPA fuel filler neck
Hi, My fuel filler neck arrived today from Bob Fulcher. It is a very nice peice of craftsman ship. When it comes to repo GPA parts I am not interested unless they are identical to the originals. When I heard David and Bob were going to try and make them from photos I must admit I was concerned. In m...

Bolts with Nyloc nuts
Hi, I agree with Jan. On my first GPA I found many of the hangers were loose where the rubber had compressed. I wanted to be able to easily tighten these as ever thing settled in. For this reason I to uesed Nyloc nuts. At a casual glance they are not obvious. Its a difficult decision if you are want...

GPA restoration
Hi Ian, I hope all is well with you. On my first GPA I decided to sand blast it first. Main because the burning paint work was a killer. This time there is not that much paint left on her. The are two other disadvantages with sand blasting early on:- 1) They start to rust too quickly, and force you ...

Restoration of GPA 9398
Happy New Year. With a couple of weeks off over Christmas I am at last getting some body work done on my GPA. Nothing like getting back into practice with a MIG welder and an angle grinder. One tends to forget (With good reason) Just how long it takes to weld up holes in a GPA. Repairs to the bow ar...

Stamps
Hi Leo, Regarding you frame stamping being faint. I had the same problem on the GP iI recently restored. If I repainted the frame the original number would have been gone. So I borrowed a small air engraving tool from my work and a tiny milling tool. This tool was the same width as the original stam...

GPA hand brake cable
Hi Tony, I think this was an age old problem with the GPW as well. The Australian army got round the problem on them by putting a bracket with a whole heap of holes drilled in to it that spaced the cable away from the fire wall. I must admit I like the solution of putting a spacer inside the hand br...

Repair sto Bilge pump PTO pulley

If it was mine I would remove the four old rivits and remove the pulley. Then you can inspect how badly the hub holes have elongated. If they are not bad drill th...
