Hello to you all

This weekend I finished all electrical work on the GPA.
All lights and instruments are working.
I made a complete new wiring with the original canvas
wire and added some extra wires for the 2 right (brake) lights.
The wiring for the front deck has allso some modifications
for the indicator lights.
I installed the "American indicator system" at the rear deck
so that one brake light is allso used as a indicator light.
With this I have the B.O. lights working and nothing extra on
the deck.
On the front deck I modified the B.O. markers by removing
the inside and putting in a 21 watt bulb.
On the dash the only thing that is not original is the indicator switch
which I added under the dash.
My mate Peter is helping me with refreshing 2 instruction plates and
Robert de Ruiter here in Holland has made perfect copies
of the engine cooling plate in brass and zinc.
Than I pushed the starter with no contact on to see if there was oil
presure.
After trying and trying and filling the oil filter finaly I ' ve got presure!!!
Than I filled the fuel tank with 20 liters.
After manual pumping and pumping no fuel in the pump and carburator!
I disconected the fuel line on the filter and sucked the fuel to the filter.
I connected the line again and than the fuel was leaking out of the
flexible hose on the pump!!!
That was the reason that I didn't get fuel by pumping by hand!
I closed the tap on the fuel filter and cleaned the leaking fuel.
I made a temperary repair on that hose and now the fuel system was o.k.
Than I ajusted the ignition and controled the spark plug wires.
Than the big moment!!; I pushed the starter and there was life again in GPA 4928!!
Good oil presure , generator was charging , and the first impression is o.k.
For the first time I could hear the sound of the new stainless steel
exhaust system.
Because I'm still missing the lower water elbow and don't have cooling
water I only ran the engine for a short while.
The final ajustments shall I do later when the cooling system is complete.
When I have the GPA good running and finished the work on all kind of details I'm going to try her for a swim.
And when there are no leaks I can close her with the remaining
deck plates.

Bob,

Great pictures!!

It looks as if it is coming along nicely. I saw in one of the photos a little box on the right side of the vehicle ...almost like it would be behind the front passenger seat near the radio power box. What is that?

Good luck on your restoration,

Donovan.
