I will soon begin the restoration of my frame.

I suppose I have to sandblast it first then paint it red oxyde primer but do you have some other tips for me ?

Did I have to use some special product or acid to protect it ?

Mithril,

I would not use red oxide paint. It is an old type of paint that is not very good. Modern paints ar far more effective and protective. You may consider a etching type primer or zinc primer followed by a 2-part epoxy primer that is rated for emersion service. You can then follow with a 2-part polyurethane. That should protect it as well as anything available today.

Good luck,

Donovan.
