differential vent hose connection

Help needed on the differential vent hose connection.
The rear hose on top end under the gas tank. I put on a seal and a nut on it.
Does it have to stay that way, or should the hole be covered up with something? If I leave it that way, some dirt may come in to it?
On the front side there is a elbow tube connented to it, but I only have one, and if I use it at the rear the gas tank might not fit.

I think that virtually no dirt will get into this fitting. However, I recommend using this fitting to pressurize the axle (and the front as well). A standard brake fitting will screw into this and serve as your port to pressurize your axles. I bent the steel brake line in a U so that it would not contact the gas tank. I then connected this steel brake line to a flexible hose and routed it to my small compressor. The compressor is regulated to 4PSI. So far, I have had no water in my axles or wheel bearings.

Hi Leo,
i was told that there must be a bolt in the top of the vent hose.
In this bolt there are 2 holes, 1 in the length (from the bottom to the head, but not through the head) and 1 perpendicular to this hole just beneath the head.
I tried to make a picture of it, but it's almost impossible when the GPA is completely assembled.
So i made a quick drawing :

, maybe i will put in a bended brake line, I just wanted to know if their was enough room for it under the gas tank. Pressurising the axles is something for the future for me.
Glenn, thanks for your drawing. Is this the same bolt that is used on the side of of the GPA (attached on the brake hoses), where the brake lines are divided from left to right?
