Hi all,
I am just returned from a very nice and succesfull amphib 2022 at lake Garda, Italy.
This was a very good organised event, by a Dutch Guy, Roy Bolks and his crew.
We got a plasticized tour and info book, were you can find all details and info you needed.
They arranged the camping place where we were two times before, Camping Rio Feriengluck
at lago Garda in Manerba del Garda.
The official arrival day was saturday, but a lot arrived days earlier at the camping place.
You could choose your own place, and there was a separate field to park the trailers.
Lovely weather we had for all the days, and a few evenings there was some wind and little rain.
The majority of vehicles were not (military) green GPA's / DUKW's but modern colored one's.
GPA's becomming more and more rare.
But; !!, there was a new commer between us
GPA 8787 was there with a new owner.
But the variarity was great;
We had a DUKW; (only one)
Several Schwimmwagens;
Lot of Duttons, never saw so many together;
Own made Amphi buggy, Beetle, one Amphi Range Rover and a Amphi Citoen CX;
We had great tours on the beautifull Lake Garda, and lunch breakes at very nice spots.
On the water, when it became to hot on board, we took a swimm.
Two Amphi rangers; Alberto's, and the New one from our Belgian friend Bert.
I had the change to drive, swimm and do the landing with it.
Totally different than a GPA;
Also there several amphibs of the model Gibbs;
But a few GAZ Russian copies of the GPA;
A very special newcommer was a hand made replica of the prototype Aqua Cheetah from Dodge.
Only a few are made and only a few survived.
15 years it took to build this replica, a great job if you think of all the challenges you have to
make, and so less info of this vehicle.
And a lot of Amphi cars, never saw so many at an event;
The first day we had a tour in and round the village of Manerba, and in the evening a tour
in the vilage to show the people our vehicles.
After that, almost every evening our own bar / tent that Roy brought with him from Holland.
Every morning at 9 o 'clock briefing and 10 'clock departure.
For every person a can of fresh water.
Monday the route to Salo with half way the lunch;
First the group pictures;
Tuesday route to Bogliaco;
Wednesday was a day of, and everybody could make their own plans.
And their was a little market, but most participants kept their spares on the shelf.
(lots of drinks crazy joker sunny
)
Thursday we had the route to Limone;
Friday the route to Sirmione;
A wonderfull spot, and as everytime, Roy had made several times good arrangements with the Municipal officials.
Police were there to guide us, and special parking area's reserved for us.
Friday evening the farewell dinner near our campsite;
And a great band for the evening party;
Roy and all his helpers, thank you for the perfect organisation!
Next year at Germany, Necarzimrn
Against tradition it was anounced that in two years it will be Norway and after that North of Holland, Friesland.
