Re: Radiator Drain
Tony, Great pictures!! One thing I noticed on your picture that my welder and I noticed that on the the top of every wheel well is a weld repair spot. It serves no obvious purpose but we believe it was used for some alignment pins that were used to align the body during assembly and then later remov...

Re: Radiator Drain
Glenn, I think what John is referring to is the gas drain on the rear tunnel. There should be a small tube that connects to the drivers side (?) of the gas tank that permits draining of the gas tank (presumably for water that has condensed in the tank) in the rear. Obviously there is a hole for the ...

Re: Rear Compartment Wooden Panels
David, Thank you. The panel shown that is shown in your listing is one that I have but I am not sure of all the others. I have this one and the other side as well as one side of the piece that goes behind the gas tank. I understand there are ones that lie flat at the bottom of each of the two rear c...

Re: Progress on 11374
Glenn, Thank you for encouragement. Yes, we are going to put the ribbed panels on but decided to make sure the hull was repaired initially and then add the piece as it was originally done (we could see when we removed the back section that there was an inner and outer hull). Although, this time, we ...

Re: Progress on 11374
Thanks everyone for the encouragement. A couple things we (me and the welder) have learned is that the spot welding (we have to do rosettes) on the L-shaped portion of the panels is really important as it provides the strength. The other items are as follows: 1) After having sand blasted the hull be...

Rear Compartment Wooden Panels
Everyone, Happy New Year!!! As I continue my restoration of the rear compartment on the GPA we are trying to figure out where the rear support ledge is situated on the inside rear wheel wells. In addition, whether there was support on the inside at the rear of the bulkhead or if the plywood just lai...

Re: What too pay for a GPA?
Nathan/Bob, What I have seen is that an unrestored GPA can sell for as little as 5K (US dollars) to as much as 40K depending on condition and how much original equipment is still on it. The 5K one was one that had the nose and rear end cut off and "doors " cut in the side of the hull to ma...

Re: Sealing GPA Tub
John, Other than welding, everything else I believe is temporary. What I have done is acquired from Eastwood copper plates that have magnets in it that help to distribute the heat when welding up these small holes (they are placed on the backside of the area you want to weld up). I am told by my wel...

2318 704242
Hope this helps.

Re: Nomenclature Plate
Brett, I seem to recall that somebody had made a jig for redoing the prop tunnel(s) and may have had it for sale (I just cannot rember who it was). It was a while back and I am not sure if it was on this forum or the old Walker forum. You may do a search and see if you find something or maybe someon...
