Re: Distributor frozen in GPA engine block
Eureka!!! I finally removed the distributor without removing the engine. It took a combination of 5 elements. One, a liberal use of PB Blaster. Two, a liberal use of Kroil. Three, use of my slide hammer, refered to in an earlier post. Four, application of torsion thru a fabricated leather strap wren...

Re: Distributor frozen in GPA engine block
I am currently using a product called PB Blaster. I have had excellent luck with this penetrating oil over the years. I will give Kroil a shot if I can locate it. Maybe available on line. Thanks for the tip.

Re: Distributor frozen in GPA engine block
Still no luck at freeing the distributor. In the GPA, access thru the oil pump hole is impossible with the engine installed. My latest attempt was to modify a 1 1/2" crowfoot open end wrench to cradle the underside of the distributor body. I then made a custom slide hammer which extends thru th...

Distributor frozen in GPA engine block
During an attempt to retime my GPA engine, I discovered that the distributor was frozen in the block. I removed both the clinch plate bolt and the bolt securing the clinch plate to the block. The clinch plate origionally was found frozen to the block. I was able to free the plate which now rotates f...

drag link boot installation
Does anyone have the secret to stretching the drag link boot over the end of the drag link? I have made a tapered guide and used condom lube and soap as a lubricant with negative results. It is a new boot from Ab Wijker.
Thanks,
Russ

Re: electrical connectors
I mean the connectors to the tail lamps above the deck. In the maintainance manual, they are listed as p/n GPA 13409.

Does anyone have a source for rear tail lamp electrical connectors? I need two sets to restore the right rear tail lamp wiring.

Re: GPA2077 registration number
The paint under U.S. Coast Guard was OD. The number was flat white maybe as a result of the sanding. I did not take a photo of this before sand blasting, sorry.

GPA2077 registration number
Can anyone tell me the origional registration number for GPA2077? Sanding carefully thru the layers of paint, I found U.S. COAST GUARD 45G751 and nothing below that. Did the Coast Guard take delivery of some GPA's or is this a transfer of assets from the Army to the Coast Guard?

Drag Link Boot
I am replacing the drag link boot with a NOS part. I note that that drag link, when the wheels are straight and the weight is on the tires, passes through the hull opening approx. 1" up from the bottom of the opening and 1" to the right of the left side of the opening. This results in a se...
