GPA 2196 Progress

Post by GPA2196 »

Gentlemen,

Here are two pics from my GPA progress.... It is currently in Oklahoma at Dennis Francis' being restored... The hull is almost all done and the chasis as well... next hull to sandblaster, then priming, then final hull detail work, then paint... the cowl/dash will be detailed painted and wired then final assembly... I am aiming for the MVPA convention this summer in Little Rock Arkansas....

Just a few notes... somebody had replaced most of the railing in a previous restoration attempt before I found it, it was pretty bad... so I took the hull that was in the fire and used its original railing after quite a bit of repair/straightening.... it is all original rail now... quite an accomplishment by Dennis. The top panels are just bolted in place temporarily to get the fit right, I have the correct deck screws :) We noticed that the drivers side of the rifle rack goes up at an angle... I checked other pictures and it is the same... why is this? For clearance or a garand barrel?

My compliments Tony!
But realize that building her up is a lot of work too!!!
You feel like a kangaroo ;jumping in and jumping out!
Be sure you test her first in the water before finishing her.
