Oil seals

Post by jerome »

Dear Friends

When replacing oil seals on you GPA, do you place the lips facing to the inside our outside (ie on axles). Logic would lead to place de oil seal with leaps facing outside so the water pressure pushes the lips to the axle. Is that correct.

I hope I was clear

Cheers

Jerome you have to install them with the lips faing the side off the oil or grease .it is made to keep the oil in ,and dirt out.
if you look at special tools you can see the V seal this is made to keep water out .
So if you look at a oil seal you have a inside side [oil grease ] where you can see the lips and a flat side this the outside .
placing them the other way will give you a lot of trouble.
