This is the fire extinguisher bracket off my 42 GPA. It looks like it is original in that I found no other mounting holes under the bracket. Is this correct?
Thanks David
Early brackets (1942) have two clamps later (from 1943 and later) had only one clamp, at least with GPW jeeps, so I think it must be the same with GPA's.
I have the same bracket David. I am missing the end bits on the clamp that goes around the extinguisher. Mine still has the band intact. Any chance I can borrow this piece to have Dennis fabricate the clamping bits?
The fire extinguisher in the untouched GPA 4926.
Note the small hole 5 cm at the right of the bracket, just below the foot light bracket. :?:
Its original, mine has that same hole but I notised that later models don't have this hole

Sorry didn't realize you didn't know me or Dennis from this site. I'm Tony Castagno, I've been collecting and restoring GPA's for about 7 years now. Dennis Francis owns "wheels of the past" and among other things has reproduced many hard or impossible to find GPA parts for this community. You can reach me at 404 512-9221 (M) and we can chat about borrowing the part. We've borrowed a few parts to reproduce for the GPA community and got them all back safely and unharmed.
I had my doubts about the original authenticity :? of the extinguisher that was found in my Gpa in India !
It's a S.o.s Fine Quand , dated 1944 , most probably adapted during the Gpa's many events .
Has anyone seen this extinguisher on other different vehicules ?
Was there only one type installed , from early to late model ?
Thanks Dominique
I thought the Fine Quand was misinterpreted from the real name of Fire Guard.. just the script letters make it look like Fine Quand..... This was perpetuated for a while by experts and books apparently....
