Re: GPA for sale
Looks nice. That is the highest priced GPA I've seen to date!
Is the blue underdash device a fire extinguisher? I see the standard brass unit on the left floorboard riser.
Why do so many restorers paint the oil fill cap red on USA MV's when that is a British only policy?

Re: GPA for sale
By my estimate, that is 215,000 US which puts it way over the price of any GPA ever sold. If it sells for that amount, I might have to rethink my insurance coverage. I have more original parts and mine is all matching numbers which I could not tell if this GPA was or not. This is just plain crazy in my opinion!

Re: GPA for sale
Tony was asking $200,000 for his GPA.
Did he get the full asking price?
If so, would that be the highest price paid to date?
BTW Tony, it is a spectacular GPA and worth every penny!
David
P.S, is the blue underdash thing another type of fire extinguisher?

Re: GPA for sale
I do not think Tony ever sold his GPA. I know he was considering selling it but do not know if it ever happened. I have seen several GPAs trying to be sold for $150,000+ but I have never seen whether they actually sold! My opinion is that there are people who have wishful thinking about selling their GPA for >$150,000. In my opinion it would have to have some special provenance or be restored back to factory original with the original engine. Mine is close but I have made some modifications (all reversible) that reduce the maintenance when I take it in the water. However, if the market is now $200,000+, I may rethink keeping mine. If anyone hears of GPAs being sold within the last year, I would sure like to know their condition and the price they were sold for.

Re: GPA for sale
Hi David,
The "Blue underdash thing" is a de-contaminator gun, a device used for chemical protection.
This is used as standard in late Jeeps or as a field modification.
The red painted oil pipe dipstick is usual on (dutch) military vehicles.
In the French army, most of the time yellow paint was used.
This was done to make it more easy for soldiers to find grease and oil points.

Re: GPA for sale
Hey Guys,
You're right I did not sell my GPA for 200K I received an offer of 140K from Italy sight unseen but decided to wait.... I appreciate the kind words on my GPA, it took a long time to put together... I have decided to sell it now more aggressively, it is in the for sale section now asking 175K USD or very nearest offer.... I imagine it will wind up in Europe or Australia given the exchange rates.... Thanks again for all of the help over the years, and if it does go to Europe I hope you European guys get to enjoy it's company and it gets lots of use on the fabulous canals, rivers and lakes!
Cheers,
Tony
