Voltmeter Plate
Hello guys,
Does anybody know of anybody reproducing the Voltmeter Plate? I have two originals I've been working on, but due to the low relief of the lettering they are not coming out as crisp as the Data Plates and Fire warning plates.... any thoughts?
Thanks,
Tony

Tony, Peter,
Robert has a great website:
http://www.xs4all.nl/~rdrnl/dataplates.htm
I don't know if the GPA voltmeter and fire caution plates are allready available, they are not mentioned on his site.

Voltmeter plate
Tony
I know Robert is working on the voltmeter and bilge plate.
He has perfect copies of the other ones.
The "early" and the "late" models.

Thanks guys for all the responses..... I will check him out.
Bob, What is the Bilge Plate?
I have the
Serial Number Plate
Marine Operation Plate
Voltmeter Plate
3 Fire Warning Plates (1X Gasoline in compartment and 2X of the longer text ones... I believe the shorter text one goes under the rear seat, and the other two go on the dash and in the engine compartment.
Permissible Speed Plate
Shift Plate...
any others for a GPA with the big Marine Operation Plate or what is called the late setup?
Thanks,
Tony

Tony,
Look at the bottom center plate, this is the early type bilge plate.
The left plate is the late type version.

Dash plates
Tony & others
Here a picture of the early dash.
My GPA 4928 went direct to South Africa and was
never modified to later American standards.

Note:
Wooden bar between clutch pedal and steering coulomb, to keep clutch plate free.
No "engine cooling plate".
Ford tag on radio filter box.
no antenna brackets, but already bolts to hold side coams.
No radio plates right on dash
ignition key.
same lever length of propellor and bilge.
old style windscreen rubber.
No "Ford" above nomenclature plate.
Long needle fuel gauge.

One other quick things with the Voltmeter plates. All the pics on the internet I see have the voltmeter plate looking brass... I have two that appear to be aluminum or some other whiteish metal, I guess similar to the fire plates.... Are there early and late voltmeter plates? I know these are originals as I removed them from the dashboards myself. I believe one of them came from GPA 11XXX
Wiper motors
Hello Tony
Yes you are right!, one wiper motor is original.
But when you are in a rainy country like here in Holland
your passenger has soon enough from wiping by hand!
I try to rebuilt my GPA as original as posible but I made
some compromises.
Like the extra electric bilge pump , extra wiper motor and the late
model crankcase / valve cover ventilation system.
When you have the early open pipe model you get the dirty
gases to breath when you are driving or sailing.
On my GPA only the voltmeter plate & bilge plate were brass.
All the others were made from iron.
Greetings Bob

Tony,
Your welcome.
The restoration is going slowly as I am still waiting for the hull. I am still looking for some pieces if you have any extra. The one piece that I seem to have trouble finding is the bottom half of the radiator shroud. The other pieces I am having made or repairing what I have. I test how things fit on my frame set-up (I have axles, engine, trans, and transfercase all mounted) and then paint, get appropriate nuts & bolts and then package up for when the hull is complete.
I am also getting the dashboard ready but do not want to install gauges until the plates are on (I do not think it is wise to drive rivets on the dashboard with original gauges present). I am waiting for Robert to either fix my voltmeter plate or reproduce them and I am not quite sure if my marine ops plate and ID plate are good enough to mount. A lot of little issues. Slowly but surely it will be done. My hope is summer of 2007 that it will be operational and a swimming we will go!!!
Take care,
Donovan.
