Kent GPA

Post by bobskinner »

Hi Guys
I can give you some history on this GPA, it was owned since the 50s by Chris Freeman who ran a private airfield in Kent. When I bought my restoration project GPA years ago I spoke to him about checking details on his GPA for my restoration. He at one time had another and spares. When Carlin was in England he used some parts from Chris for the work he did after the Atlantic crossing. Chris died a few years ago and his son Jamie now has the vehicle. He had it restored last year by a classic car specialist in Kent. I went to see it at the restorers a couple of times, they borrowed my manuals as they had no GPA experience. There was a scrapbook with some interesting stories about the vehicle, it was used in a bad flood as a rescue vehicle. I believe it will stay with the family.
All the best

Thank you Bob,

Do you know the frame number of this GPA ?

May I also have a picture each of both your GPA's to add on my website database ?

Sorry for the delay, I have been away in India. Don't know the frame number, when the weather is warmer I will drive over in my running GPA and try to find out. I will send some pics of my GPAs soon. Incidentally, I have been to a small foundry in India and he is casting me up some sets of the winch cable guides (in cast iron though, they cannot do steel). Next visit i am getting some bilge pump valve handles cast up in bronze.
regards
bob
