replaced gastank

Post by fordgpa »

Hi guys,
I changed my gastank today for a new one. :D
It fits great and the old one needed some attention after 65 years.

THREE Gastanks! That is just being greedy, I've only got one between my 2 GPAs, I dream of getting another one.

Peter,

I think you have to work on your carburator, if you need that many gas tanks

Peter,

I am curious. Did you have a NOS tank, have one made, or repaired an old one? If you had one made, who did it for you?

Thanks,

Donovan.

Post by richardfs »

Peter,
That fuel tank sure looks good in your GPA.

Worth the wait.

Hi Peter

Do you know some one who sells the two mesh grills located on each side of the gas tank (repro ok).

Thanks

Hi Tony

Would you mind asking Dennis for a price quote for the following items
- two grills going around the gas tank
- two grill going below the dashboard on each side of the firewall (where the driver and passenger feet stand.

Thanks in advance

Jerome,

I'll ask him next time I speak to him.... He charges by the hour for making the parts... but I think he has a good idea of how long they take....

Spoke with Dennis on the Screens

Gas Tank Screens 210 each requires 2
Drivers Foot Screen 185
Passenger Foot Screen 105

Thanks Tony for the quick response. That's a significant budget. I will think about it.

Cheers

Yes it is... at least you have the power of the weak dollar.... for us going the other way its very bad.... I was surprised by the gas tank screens but then he told me about all the beads that must be rolled into them... they are exact copies and at his pricing I assume it takes him around 7 hours to make one of the gas tank sides.....

Repro gas tank; mess tank grills

Post by dmolasov »

Can you put me in touch with the gent that makes up the mesh grills. They're missing from my "new " GPA. I have also figured out that the tank in GPA 3936 is a poorly done copy. Does anyone have a source for a proper reproduction (it being clear from this string of postings that a good old tank will be a matter of luck and time)?

Thanks.

David,

Welcome again to the forum. Dennis Francis is the man you are looking for. His number is (918) 225-2250. He is excellent and is near completion of restoring my GPA. He has a list of parts he's reproduced. While I had my parts vehicles up there (5 of them) He had plenty of access to make patterns for things... and see the differences between "early" and "late" GPA parts.... there are quite a few subtle differences for such a short run. Any way Dennis is a great guy to work with, just don't sidetrack him too much from my project ;)

Cheers,
Tony
