front driveshaft boot support

Post by bobskinner »

Hi All,
Inside my front driveshaft boot (the hull seal) there was a double support made of 2 rings of sheet metal, it was corroded and broke up when unbolting the driveshaft. Is this a standard part? I do not see a reference to it in the manual or parts list. Do I need to make a replacement or is it safe to leave it out? Anyone any experience of problems operating without this support in place?

Bob,

There was no such support on my GPA. There should just be a band that hold the boot onto the transfer case and the special ring that connects the boot to the hull. No individual support in the boot.

Good luck,

Donovan.

Donovan,
Thanks for that, it may have been a British Army modification, I have put it all back together without the support so we shall see. I will be in Fullerton all next week, anywhere near you? If possible perhaps I could visit and see the project.
regards
Bob
