David,
You're GPA would have had small plates, however there was a FSMWO to replace all the data plates with the new type (except the voltmeter plate on the dash) Additionally there were three fire warning plates added engine compartment, dashboard, and under rear seat. Our host Peter has the FSMWO's all online... the one pertaining to data plates is FSMWO 7 Group IV... they came in a kit. BTW I am putting this FSMWO on my GPA 2196
Here are Peter's scanned FSMWO's

Cheers,

FSMWO 7 is dated may 6 1943.
I think they changed those plates from the factory early in january 1943.

instruction plates
David
In my opinion the instruction plates were the small old model
untill chassis number +/- GPA 8000.
The U.S. army changed the old style plates on earlier GPA's later in the
new bigger ones.
If you take away the new plates you can see the old factory drilling holes.
The same happened with the early wingnuts on the engine hood.
They modified the early ones into the 3 point later type.

Of course yes, you are true. Large type data plates on yours.
All the GPA dashboard are like this, event the last produced one I know, GPA 12562 I dismantle last year.If you take away the new plates you can see the old factory drilling holes.
