In 1944 most of the island Walcheren was flooded bij the allies, before operation Infatuate.
After the liberation on november 8 1944 it took until end of 1945/begin 1946 to get the Island dry again.
In the mean time many amphibious vehicles were used to transport military and civilians from one town to another.
Most vehicles were DUKW's and tarrapins, this photo proves there were also GPA's involved.
This photo was taken near the village of Serooskerke in 1945, fun for the driver and the ladies :)
