Peter, Thank you. I took pictures before hand but some of my GPA was disassembled before I obtained it and I was not sure what was original and what may have been added later. Hopefully this will give me a start. A couple more questions: 1.) The way the manual reads the voltmeter switch comes before...

Routing of Cables?

I am in the process of rewiring the dashboard and was trying to understand where the electrical cables come out and then route to: engine, front lights, rear lights, etc. Does anybody have a diagram or can take a picture to show which holes these wires exit from the dash and how they travel to the v...

Dominque, It looks great. It sounds as if the leaks were minor and you soon will be swimming away. Alas, my progress goes slow. The hull, the hull , the hull!!! I am in the midst of doing the rewiring of the dashboard. Does anyone have a picture or diagram that shows where the wires exit the dashboa...

Mithril, I would not use red oxide paint. It is an old type of paint that is not very good. Modern paints ar far more effective and protective. You may consider a etching type primer or zinc primer followed by a 2-part epoxy primer that is rated for emersion service. You can then follow with a 2-par...

Tony,

On my GPA (late version), the fire and voltmeter plates are zinc, the marine ops and ID plate are brass, and the transmission/transfercase operation and caution plates are steel.

Good luck,

Everyone,

Robert is working on reproducing the Voltmeter plate but as yet hasn't created a reproduction. He is trying to restore mine but I have not heard from him on whether it was successful. The other common jeep plates he produces are excellent.

Glenn,

Thank you. I had forgotten that Richard made these.

Leo,

I appreciate the picture of the short pipe but does anyone have some measurements they can give me for the short pipe (for the middle section to the bilge valve)?

Thanks,

Donovan.

Leo, OK, now I believe it is a REAL GPA. Your rusted out rear end looks similar to mine and entirely more believable!! I know exactly what you mean. When I had my hull sandblasted I discovered numerous holes that I am systematically trying to repair. Luckily, I have a welder who is meticulous, but s...

Bob,

Great pictures!!

It looks as if it is coming along nicely. I saw in one of the photos a little box on the right side of the vehicle ...almost like it would be behind the front passenger seat near the radio power box. What is that?

Good luck on your restoration,

Donovan.

Leo,

This must have come from a museum...not enough holes in the hull :)

I have a lot more holes to fix than what you have, I can only imagine what it would be like to have a finished hull.

Good luck and Peter, don't forget to get them all!!!

Nathan,

Thanks for the info. The way the other person did it makes a lot of sense now although it must have looked strange.

Again thanks for satisfying my curiosity.

Gas Tank Hold Down Straps

Hi Everyone,

I am trying to figure out what to do about the hold down straps for the gas tank. Mine were missing from my GPA so I do not have anything as an example. Can GPW gas tank straps be modified to do the same thing or are the straps completely different?

Thanks,

Donovan

Bob, Tell Koer that the pictures are great. Where did he have the leaks? My GPA serial number (11374) is very close to Koer's but I am very far from his status. Maybe by the end of summer will I have the body finished. Keep the pictures coming it helps to motivate the rest of us that are restoring t...
